To Cleanse wounds In Lann battle Take Linseed oil one pint put it into a pot that will hold three times the quantity. Then add by little at a time 2 ounces of oil of vitrial and keep continually stiring it as you pour it in when the one perfectly united add spirits of Turpentine half a pint Let this be done as before by adding very gradually and stiring Let a sufficient quantity be put into the wound and rubbed round with the finger or if the finger cannot reach the bottom use a handle _________________________________________ Another Take oil of Boys Elder ointment and ointment of Marshmallones of each 4 ounces camphor one ounce difsolved in 4 ounces of spirits of Turpentine by rubbing in a marble morter Then mix the whole together and tie a pile of badden over it This liniment is excellent for removing infflamation and hand tumers that may be round about the wound. _________________________________________ When the wound only wants healing it may be done first with the following Take Tincture Benzoin and Tincture of Myrrh of each 2 ounces aquafortis half an ounce Mix them gently together and them in a bottle for use. __________________________________________ For wounds in the joints Take Mal. Egytiacum 2 ounces Tinctures of Myrrh Aloes and Benzoin of each 2 ounces Aquafortis half an ounce Misc and keep in a bottle for use The wound must be filled with this if popible either by injection with a syrange or by pouring it in. _________________________________________ For a swelled uder called by some the donefall of the udder When first perceived Take the bullock from the pasture and take from it three to five quarts of blood according to size and strength. If bled in the evening she may remain in the yard or a cool house untill morning Then give her one pound of glauber salts ginger 2 ounces Treacle 4 ounces put it into a pitcher pour on it three pints of boiling water give it warm Let her be milked 3 times a day and bathe the udder with goulards extract of lead in warm water in the following proportions Water one quart Extract of satern caked golard 40 drops or if prefered the following may be used in its stead Take soft soap and oil of Boys of each half a pound Spirits of Turpentine 2 ounces by measure comphorated spirits of wine 4 ounces Mix them well together for use Let some of this be be rubbed in every night and morning as soon as the cow has been milked And after the purging drink has ceased opperating give the following Take anisceds and Turmeric fresh pounded of each one ounce Juniper Berries and nitro of each 2 ounces in powder resin in powder 4 ounces spirits of Turpentine 4 Table spoonsfull Treacle 4 ounces Mix and give in a quart of cold Ale It will be proper to repeat this drink every third day for 3 only times Or the following may be given instead Take nitro 2 ounces Alum in powder 4 ounces disolve in one quart of boiling ale When cold add yellow resin in powder 6 ounces Juniper Berries and ginger in powder of each 2 ounces Mix and give for one drink repeating it as before. ____________________________________
