Hermits. 1 cup butter 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 5 tablespoons sweet milk 1 teaspoon soda 1 cup raisins (chopped) Flour to knead. 2 eggs 1 1/2 cups sugar 2/3 cup butter and lard 1/4 cup milk 1/4 cup molasses 1 teaspoon soda 1 cup raisins. cinnamon, cloves, allspice. Flour to knead. dust lightly with powdered sugar, set the dish on a board in the oven long enough to make the meringue rise, stiff and turn a golden brown. Chill.
