To make a Rice Cake (Mrs Jrs.) Take 1 lb of lump sugar, 10 eggs, the juice of a lemon, 6 oz of flour, 6 oz of ground rice; beat it for an hour, grease the tin well before you put the cake in, then put it into a slow oven, & bake it for an hour. To make Soda Cake. 1 Lb of Flour, 8 oz of sugar, 8 oz butter, 8 oz of currants, 3 eggs, a teaspoonful of carbonate of soda, & candid Lemon to taste: if required a little milk. LEB To make Excellent Biscuits. 2 Lbs of best flour, 2 1/2 oz Butter, 1/2 a pint of water. The hotter the oven the better.
