Paste for cleaning Brasses. 1/4 Lb of Rotton Stone, 1/4 lb of soft soap, 2 d of spirits of Turpentine. Blacking. 3d of spirits of Vitrioil, 3 ozs of Ivory Black, 2 ozs of moist sugar, 1 table spoonsful of sweet oil, 3 gills of vinegar; Put the spirits of vitriol in last, & stir it well. For Polishing Brass. 1/2 Lb of Rotten Stone, 1/2 lb soft Soap, 1/2 cup cup full Spirits of Turpentine, 1/2 cup full sweet Oil, well mixed.
