3 Windsor, Virginia 3, 24, 1912. Ida R. Chamness, my dear friend I received thy last to me yester-day, my heart was made sad to hear of thee being so poorly, and thy family sick. I deeply sympathize with you all. I know what it is to wade in deep waters of trouble, and clouds of darkness to cover me; and tears of sorrow to fall from mine eyes: as if the Sun of brightness had fled from me forever. O, I do pity thee, and I pray for thee to be kept pure for the service of the Master. So thou can fill thy high calling in the world to the honor of truth, and for the everlasting salvation of the sons and daughters of the fallen race of Adam, and the crown of life will be thine, Ida, to wear in heaven with the purified spirits of all of ransomed church of God for ever and forever, A man. Ida, my heart has been made happy by reading thy letters many times, and now I weep with thee, O my dear friend, and thy sick family. I feel to pray to the God of heaven and earth, and ask Him in His great goodness and tender mercies to shed His rays of brightness on thee Ida Roiseland Chamness, and all of they dear and precious children. My heart weeps for you all as you are of the same house hold of faith with me, I mean that living faith begotten of the Eternal Spirit of God, to wax strong in the inner man, and is connected with a sounding voice in the heart that is loud as thunder, And wakes the dead in trespass and in sin. These are things I heard and felt in my childhood days so I can command all to follow that leading star of truth that shines in the heart and conscience. And as a golden dial turns with the Sun, so His own Spirit turns on the hearts of all His people. So this cuts out all priests and hirelings in this the Gospel day of the Christian era. I shall pray for you all dipped in tears. Joel.
