-29- the other half for three more crowns. We took that; and it was completely packed. People stood in the doorways and the windows. All seemed anxious to get in. After a time of silence I began to speak;--and told them that the great mission of our Saviour in the world was to save lost and fallen men etc.; enlarging from this, showing them in gospel authority, the true light that lighted every man in the world etc. There being several military officers in that meeting, I showed them the unlawfulness of war by scripture proof. I told them God forbid man to kill one another from the begining of the creation of the world. I felt clothed with Gospel authority and power for this (unexpected meeting to me). Then Ida arose. And she was most wonderfully favored in proclaiming the Gospel to that people of her own native tongue, and land; she interpreting for me. This meeting held over two hours. And better order I never saw. The military officers showed great respect to us. After meeting the preachers that gave notice of the meeting in the paper; to be held at the same time our meeting was held; came to our meeting, and the people with them. They gave us many kind hand shakes. And asked me many questions
