-34- Here we saw the Steeple house where George Fox was at a meeting; and so convinced the people that the sheriff that was in the meeting went the next day into the market near the Steeple house, (I saw the place) and there preached the doctrine of the Inward light of Christ in the heart, and people were gathered in great numbers to the truth. George Fox left his own meeting at the time they had met for worship and told none of his friends his mission. We went to Derby and had a meeting in Friends' meeting house. Only a few came and it was a poor, small meeting. We were shown the place where they kept George Fox in a dungeon in Nottingham a long time. On the last day of the eighth month we left Fritchly and arrived in Birmingham. Here we met very kind and warm hearted; and the true type of Friends. That after-noon we had a large favored meeting in Bournbrook. Then we went home to our quarters. I stopped with Henry Whittiker, a school teacher. On the next day nineth month, 1st. we went to Bull street meeting, which was a very large one. Ida and myself were both exercised in public testimony. Ida was led in deep and tender supplication for all mankind the world over, to be saved. here we received many kind hand shakes; and expressions of gratitude, for our visits to these parts. We took the street cars back to our home
