-47- for the true leading of the divine Hand. That had been my sun by day, and star by night to accomplish my religious visit in Europe. Ninth month, 30th., We left here for Dumfermlin at ten:thirty o'clock; and had a very large and favored meeting in this town. Tenth month, 1st., We took the cars for Edinburg; and arrived there at ten o'clock. We went to the Friends' meeting with some degree of life. This Friends' meeting house has been standing two hundred years. Arrived in Grenock near six o'clock and had two favored meetings. We took the cars for Glasgow and arrived there near two o'clock. We had a large favored meeting there. Ida had most of the vocal exercises laid on her. She said to me after meeting: "Why did I have to do most of the preaching?" I told her I did not know. Near the close of the meeting a young man stood up and said: "Before now I I did not believe in women's preaching; but now I am convinced that they are called to preach as well as men." Ida spoke one hour in this meeting. Martin and Edith Pumphry took us to a nice hotel; and gave us a good supper; not to be excelled by any one. There we parted with These Friends at eleven o'clock, for Fritchly, England.
