-57- as the callings of God are the highest calls to His servants and handmaidens; so they who have this call are held more responsible than those who do not have it. Ida, I have found that in thee which I have never found in any other person. I sought for it in my young years. I longed for that spiritual help and aid, and I found it not. my poor spirit was often much grieved; and my mind often burdened. My aspirations would often die away to a low ebb. Yet, there still remained a small spark of divine light in my heart; a glimmer that tottered there. And as an anchor that kept me through all the changing scenes of my life unto the present time. This I write as a testimony to the truth. I am a firm believer in divine conviction and admonition in the heart. The churches to-day are filled with pride, worldliness and prejudice. It is true with us to-day; many of our members have turned and proven themselves to be traitors to the truth; and cast their frown on the servants of the Lord. Ida, thee and I can bear witness to these things; they are sadly true. Ida, I have often thought of, and wondered in my mind why it was so.
