-59- preter from the movings and leadings of the Spirit of God. All of the plans of North Carolina yearly meeting were overthrown. God had interferred and opened a way for me to visit the distant land in His own time and way. All of these things are marvelous in mine eyes; and to Him alone do I ascribe all the praise and everlasting renown now and forever more. Yes, Ida, thou art the only person in all this world that can open the cells and closed doors for me; yes, the Enemy had blocaded my way, and set his seal over me. And God alone did open that seal; by thy own hand did lead me out of the [howlling?] wilderness of bondage accross the waters into the broad fields of Europe; where my mind had been for many years. O, Ida, the many sweet meetings we had in Europe; especially in Norway and Scotland. It is now bed time and I will close. Joel Johnson. Tell Ole Stangeland I often think of him as one, I believe, that will stand for right. And what a comfort he was to me when we were in Norway, especially when he was with us in meetings; how his appearance helped me in the work. Please give my love to him. Ida, I found more of the springs of the waters
