-67- The agent wired to the steamer in New York to know whether they could take another passenger, then said they would take me so I went on. This was all opened up for me by the High hand of God. Josiah, we need to cease from strife and seek peace. The Lord who called one to that work marvelously opened a way for me. It was the crowning year of all my life in the gospel field. Praises to God and the Lamb fill my heart. And as for the minute being called for; I fail to see your right authority for such an act. And what further shall I act upon that? It having been cancelled and read up in the face of the yearly meeting; I not having ever been informed of it before. To me it looks weak; and on unreasonable ground, as I have previously stated. If we are thus to act and hold guilt, where is the whole meeting? Who can cast the first stone? Have you not been in confusion over two years?--employing lawyers at one time; one part against another to fight their plea. What would the discipline do or say in such a case? Has not the meeting become a reproach to the world?--and a hissing to many before my concern ever came before you? The world would love to see you fallen as a church from where you once were. Who can cast the first stone? Many would have to acknowledge; and ask of God for pardon if their eyes were opened to see clearly.
