-70- Ida Chamness along. She being afflicted; not able to climb the steps without help. Mary Stokes has often asked me to help Ida up the steps. And sometimes Ida has asked me and other persons to help her. I was ashamed for the world to see how you acted to her the last yearly meeting. She and Mary Stokes used to sit together in your gallery; and you were glad to have them in your yearly meeting. I am ashamed for the world to know how you acted towards God's messengers. He will surely visit you for your cruel deeds. I am not ashamed of Ida Chamness, I think it an honor to be in meeting where she is; and all who are in the life and power of the gospel. I have wept over the sad state of the society at Woodland, you have fallen, have fallen away from that pure innocency and love that once shone so lovely in your faces and hearts. The sweet feelings that once crowned the meetings at Cedargrove in the endless love of the gospel has been blasted by the wicked one. Where smiles used to flow from one to another I see frowns. And the evil eye I see cast among you. I don't include all of the meeting as being guilty of these things, no. But it surely is in a sad state. I am not ashamed to own Christ wherever He is found; or, in whom He manifests Himself. I don't wonder now at the committee not recomending Roland or anyone else. They were covered with blindness and darkness by the imposition of Solomon Barker's
