- 5 - would repeatedly say, she was so glad I was along. We were very fearful that the officers would not allow me to cross the ocean, and did not see how I could get from one floor to the other and on deck, not being able to walk, but one mountain after another was removed, for I was carried on board the ship and after the ship Dr. had asked mamma several questions he allowed me to remain without even seeing me, and the Stewardess got a wheelchair for my use whilst on board the ship. In it I was wheeled from my stateroom to the elevator and from there to the dining saloon, lounge, decks etc. and back again. I was only at the table for two and part of the third meal for I began to be a little dizzy, I was taken up to the lounge where I spent the evening. I went to bed feeling pretty sick, and kept vomiting all night; in the morning I was completely worn out and very sick. Mamma got me partly dressed, and bundled up then the stewart and stewartess helped get me on deck where I was well wrapped up and the Chief stewart had me take some brandy. I was too sick to hold my eyes open or hold myself up. And mamma was weeping and afraid I would die. I heard the Chief stewart say,
