Soon after mamma and Georgetta's return they thot it best for us to move to 'Volland' and keep house for ourselves. So we got Aunt Theoline's heater, and mamma's rocker from Severina, and a few chairs, dishes, pans, and a carpet strip from Uncle's. I was loathe to leave my comfortable abode in the meeting house, with the cheerful surroundings; thinking it would be very lonely over at Volland; so I had a big cry about it. Aslak and Georg helped put the stove up. And soon we saw the smoke circling upward from an iron pipe projecting above the old sod roof. In the evening as Ida Mary was taking some things over there; Theoline and I were sitting on a bench near the window which she passed. And all at once apparently a large ball of fire rushed passed our faces and accross the room. It gave us such a shocking fright that we both jumped clear off the
