After about six weeks drying it is turned and left another six weeks or more: when it is stored in a small shed near by; and hauled down the mountains on a sled, or carried in baskets on the back after the ground is covered with snow. The turv makes good fuel; but not quite as good as coal. Roiseland consists of about acres and is entirely inclosed by high mountains on all sides except two roads and a few paths leading to it. There are four dwelling houses including the vacated one in which we stayed, sitituated here. The fields belonging to the three different families are divided by stone fences. And about three creeks are winding their way thru the hay fields and yards. One of the mountains is called "Nunbakken" - at its lower edge on the west side lay a beautiful little strip of green grass; at which I often looked; and longed to go and sit there. They told me that was the spot where mamma had a little
