Mr. Gordon is very accomodating to Ella, for they would not take anything for bringing her home from the village this summer, when she to recite, but Father said she might give hime a dollar and she does not know to the contrary but that is was a dollar - Alvin Burleigh seems to talk as though there was no one quite equal to Prof Richards at [Meriden?}
Mr. [Heagen's?] family numbers three instead of two now.  Mr.Cochran and wife talk of going into the Burns house at [Rumney?] and he will cut gloves with Mr. Whitney.  Some well circulated reports are going that Robert Cochran is agoing to marry Mary Craig but I do not believe there is any truth in it yet.
Where is John Little?  Father says if George Paine does not come home this fall some of them will go after him.
