Reciept for Gumbo. To make for 6 persons. Cut a chicken in small pieces, and put in a sauce pan with a little lard and let fry for a short length of time, then chop in one onion and one piece of Ham and let fry with chicken. Stir in two table spoons full of Flour, and fry a little longer. Then put the Quantity of water needed seasoned with salt, Red Pepper &c & let cook. When Cooked, put in Table spoon full of Gumbo Powder. Stir up Good & serve. Dont let the soup boil after putting in the Gumbo Powder, In place of chicken, Oysters or Crabs can be used.
