Oct 1st Weather clear and pleasant. No forward movement yet. Boys are enjoying easy times as they have nothing to do but lay around and await orders. We have rather short rations today as the provision train is behind lines. This is the last I have had set apart on in hope to start some on [illeg] but [prisoners? [illegible] and no one is getting at a movement their excuse being at than ever for always there are [illeg] [bid?] [illeg] [illeg] as patient [illegible]. [I_an?] and will look with more [illeg] that and an [_nety?] [illeg] [__ner] for [next line illegible] Oct 2nd Raining this morning and [turned to a disagreeable cold day?].
