Nov. 1st I got a furlough to go home for 30 days and on Nov 2nd In company with Lieut Gardner with Jo Long to drive us in a 2 horse waggon we started for the Railroad at Web-ster and traveled in the rain and through verry muddy roads until Nov. 3rd late in the evening we arrived at Webster and remained overnight at what was called a hotel but the Lord preserve me from ever staying at such another.
