along the Lousiville and Nashville pike. Dec 11th Out tents struck and we ware on the march by 8 A.M. Marched 15 miles and encamped 1 1/2 miles South of little Salt river in a little ravine. Country beautiful. Weather clear, nights frosty, passed through the village of Mount Washington, a place of about 300 400 inhabitants but with a peculiar look as all the chimneys are built outside of the houses which appears to be the prevailing fasion in this part of the country.
