of the Muldrough Hills where the soil is quite poor and the general appearance of the country is mountaneous. Wrote a letter to Sally as there is a good chance to mail it. Dec 14th. On march as usual at 8. Crossed the Rolling fork river 1/2 mile from new Haven and went up the valley 9 miles then took up the hill and are now encamped on the McDougal farm 12 miles from New Haven on the road to [GreenBrier crossed out] Boling Green. The camp is named camp Wycliff. Weather warm and smoky like Indian Summer in Indiana.
