blocked up with the teams of the 17th Regt. So that we could not get over the river until 9 Oclock. We crossed the river on a Pontoon bridge which was injured badly by the rise of the river shortly after we got across. consequently our teams did not get over and we had to take possession of unoccupied houses in the town for the night. Mar 3. This day was spent in the Once beautiful town of Bowling Green but alas its beauty is now vanished. The Rebels have been holding possession here in verry strong force
