Our rations are getting low and the boys are becoming verry troublesome in consequence. Mar 5th Weather more moderate today. I am officer of the guard. There was a Steamboat load of provision come up the river today. We draw 5 days rations and are under marching orders for tomorrow morning at 8 Oclock. Received a letter from Sally this evening also one from Ferman. good and cheering news in both as all are well. Wrote to Sally tonight. Mar 6th Was much surprised to see the ground covered with
