18th A cold rain today A brisk skimish on the line at 9 in the evening An old gentleman made a few remarks read poems &c to to a crowd of us. Saw the Champion drummer, of the 19th Ill, 19 A month ago to-day the grand battle began, Who then would have tho't we would be here a month hence, the fearful odds being taken into consideration The officers and 1st serg'ts on drill, At noon we rec'd orders to move to another position on the line at 2 P.M. Moved to town
