2 The meetings then were longer than now, sometimes they would last three hours and often as many as three and four members would have papers at one days' meeting. Frequently they would get behind and would either have to call an extra meeting or meet one half hour earlier to get caught up on their work. In order to provide relaxation during thier long study period a five minute recess was taken mid way of each program. A short time at each meeting was often given over to pronunciation, definition, spelling, and English tests. Ettiquette was studied. Parlimentary law was taken up during one year. Debates were sometimes held. In 19193 "Woman Suffrage" was the topic debated & for another, in 1917, the question was "Does club work benefit the women in the home?" In 1901 upon request of the "Reciprocity Bureau" Mrs. Knowlton, Griffiths and Alexander submitted their club papers to this bureau.
