8 Club Story Perhaps the greatest achievement of of the early club years was the writing of the club story, really a book for length. This was written in 1898 & 1899 as a part of the year's program. It is a temperence story entitled "Wrecked Where We Least Expect". Each member wrote one or more chapters. At the close of that year they had an all day picnic and the entire story was read on that day. They also discussed the matter of having this story printed and a committee later reported it would cost fifty dollars ($50.00) per hundred copies to have it published, then Mrs Hindman volunteered to write it out in long hand if the club would furnish the material. This the club gladly consented to do and she copied it in full. The club has enjoyed rereading and sometimes reviewing it many times. It was reread in 1907, 1918, 1927, and 1930. It was printed in full by the Marion Sentinel in 1930. We have a newspaper
