35 March 25 1886 According to adjournment society met with Mrs. Gist ten members present after the reading of the minutes of the preceeding meeting Mrs. Cook gave what little city news she had obtained. Mrs. Latham not being present the congressional news was not given. The exercise of Spelling Spanish word was one of pleasure and profit. Having no spaniard among us we rather failed and spelled in our mother tongue. A lively and with discussion then followed in regard to Senators receiving passes on the railroads. Mrs. Mitchell favored us with short extracts from different papers in regard to the labor question Nights of Labor. At this time Mrs. Rathbun arrived with her budget of papers among the many interesting pieces read by her was the (By Laws) of the Nights of Labor, the "Elkhorn Plan" Roxies speech and her last piece was the will of Christian Winklar a rich Swiss Bachelor of Des Moines. He willed all his property to the Benedict Home. The question of Capital and Labor is one of the oldest of all question and in all probability the last to be answered. Today it is heard in tones of unmistakable meaning in Europe and America. It cannot be silenced and oughth be heeded. Mrs. Jackson Pres. Mrs. Cook Sect'y.
