36 April 8, 1886 The miscellaneous program of April 8 was laid aside to listen to a description of Mrs. Durm travels in California. She gave a very graphic description of the climate parks, fruits, dress, habits, and houses drawing out many beautiful features of the Sunny South. When she gave her experience of going through the Golden Gate we almost imagined we had been there too. We were very highly entertained until the hour of adjournment approached. After the reading of minutes of preceeding meeting, we adjourned to meet with Mrs Latham in two weeks. Mrs Jackson Pres. Mrs. Cork Secty. April 22. 1886. According to previous adjournment Club met Mrs. Latham, five members present, meeting opened by reading of minutes of preceeding meeting. followed by criticisms on last meeting by Mrs. Hindman. Miss Durham then read a piece "Lucy Larkham not pretty but clever." which we enjoyed very much. Mrs. Hindman then read us a story by George Saud entitled "Three and one" Mrs. Jackson favored us with a piece. Origin of the old adage. That woman rules in every
