Mrs. Rathbun read "The White Mans Burden" Mrs. Rathbun gave a review of "The Tempest" Mrs. Alexander and Dobson sang a beautiful duet "Whispering Hope", Mrs Maddox read a paper on "The Pyramids". Critics report from previous meeting was given. Club adjourned, to meet Feb-12- with Mrs Rathburn. Mrs. Ives Pres. Mrs. Knowlton, Sec. Feb-12-1900. The Cary Club met at the home of Mrs. Rathbun with thirteen members present. Pres. presiding Roll call responded to by quotations from "Grey Goldsmith and Johnson." Minutes of last meeting read and approved. Report of Critic from previous meeting. The Committee appointed to remodel the Club story reported it almost completed and proposed that we have a Winter picnic spend the day and read the story. Motion made and carried to that effect. Motion made and carried that picnic be postponed until further after the next meeting of The Club. Current events were given. Mrs. Hanson read a paper on the "Obelisks of Egypt" Mrs Alexander gave a Review "In Kais Steps." Mrs. Mudge and daughter played a Piano duet." Mrs. Ives gave a talk upon "Egyptian Literature." Mrs. Mudge read a chapter from Egyptian Princess." Pres. appointed Mrs. Alexander to read from "Egyptian Princess" at the next meeting. Club adjourned to meet Feb -26- with Mrs. Dobson. Pres. requested the Club to remain for a social hour. The Hostess served dainty refreshments and a most delightful time was spent. Mrs. Ives Pres. Mrs. Knowlton Sec.
