Monday April 14th 1902 The Cary Club met with Mrs. Gibson Vice Pres. presiding. Roll call was responded to by miscellaneous quotations, 17 members present. Minutes read and approved. Mrs. Reynolds was appointed critic, the following papers were then read. Religion and Cast System of India by Mrs. Davis and [illegible] Rebellion Mrs. Gibson. A [illegible] selection was read by Mrs. Gibson. Intermission. Called to order and Sec. read a letter from Mrs. Smith regarding inability to join the Club on account of their removal from town. The new member subject was then discussed and it was moved + carried the vacancy be left for the present. Solicitors and sales ladies were appointed for the rummage sale to be held for the benefit of Library. Adjourned to meet with Mrs. Reynolds April 28th. The hostess served elegant refreshments + a social half hour followed. Mrs. Alexander Pres. Mrs. Hutchinson Sec. Monday April 28th 1902 The Cary listers met at the house of Mrs. Reynolds. Pres. presiding. Roll call responded to by Chinese quotations or proverbs 17 members present. Minutes read and accepted. Chinese Manners and Customs was the subject of a paper read by Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Kringer read a very interesting paper on Chinese Religion. Mrs. Anderson gave a "back" paper on French Art and Literature. Intermission followed by Business. The chairman of Program committee read program for next year work as arranged by said committee subject to approval of Club which was accepted. Arrangement were then made for the lecture to be given May 8th for Library fund. Adjournment to meet with Mrs. McKean May 12th for the annual meeting. The hostess served refreshments.
