Guest Day Marion Ia Feb 20th 1911 The Cary Club met at the home of Mrs Cross to hold its annual guest day. The weather was fine, the house was beautifully decorated with American flags, the Club colors, and flowers. There were about fifty present. The following program was given. Quotations from Washington or incidents in his life were given in answer to Roll call. A solo by Mrs A Sumac - "A Japanise [sic] love song" Reading - Mrs Blinks "A funeral monologue" Encore a gem from Whitcomb Riley Reading Mrs E Pyle "Biddies Troubles" Encore - - - Instrumental solo Miss Grace Christie There were five members absent, and one retired member present. Mrs Beatty gave a guessing contest "An ordinary morning's experiences" After which refreshments were served which all pronounced very good. A social time followed that was enjoyed by all. Each one left for home feeling better for having been there and decided Mr & Mrs Cross a success as host and hostess making everyone feel welcome. The Club by unanimous vote extends to Mr & Mrs Cross thanks for there [sic] kindness S Brown Sec'y
