250 "Salads" by Mrs. Winters, a general discussion followed each of the papers. We thoroughly enjoyed bother Papers and discussions and received many useful hints from them. The Club then adjourned to meet November 16" with Mrs. Griffiths. Mrs. Shumack Pres. Mrs. Bishop Secy. Cary Club "Guest Day." The annual "guest day" of the Cary club was observed Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. E. W. Griffiths. The hostess was assisted in receiving by the president, Mrs. Addie Shumack, and nearly sixty ladies were present. Miss Gertrude Minor delightfully entertained with a group of readings and graciously responded to an encore. Mrs. A. E. Blinks told some interesting facts of the early days in Linn county. A two course suppers was served by the social committee during the social hour. There were forty one guests present and nineteen members. Marion Iow. November 30" 1914. Cary Club met with Mrs. Shumack. with fourteen members present, and one visitor. The Pres.. Mrs. Shumack presiding. Roll call was responded to with Thanksgiving quotations. Mrs. Griffith reported the Guest Day meeting. Said there were nineteen members and forty one visitors present. Mrs. Ives read a very interested letter from Mrs. Billington and Mrs. Mentzer read a letter from Mrs. Parmenter, both being honorary member of the Club. The Sec'y. read an acknowledgement from Mrs. Jessie Ives Ford of the gift sent to her at the time of her marriage. Mrs. Brown reported the meeting of the City & education The lesson was then taken up. The minutes of Nov. 2. were read and approved.
