Marion Iowa. Jan 15th 1920 Cary Club met at the home of Miss Alexander. Meeting called to order by the Pres Mrs Alexander. Eight members responded to roll call with quotations. Minutes of Dec 8th read and approved. Delegate to C.F. of W.C. reported the reelection of officers except corresponding secy. Mrs [Cross?] was elected to that office. The program was then given Mrs Pyle gave a very interesting number on "Anthracite production" Mrs Phelps being absent the secd number was omitted. Current Event followed. Club adj to meet in two weeks with Mrs Hanscom. After which the Hostess invited club to remain for a social hour & served [clipping] CLUB WOMEN MAKING READY TO DO MUCH A most interesting meeting of the Marion Federation of Woman's clubs was held Tuesday afternoon, and more than sixty women responded to the invitation to come and spend a social hour. The library auditorium was decorated with flags, and rugs and ferns added a homey touch to the room. Preceding the regular business session an informal social time was enjoyed, and the guests were asked to change seats two or three times so that everyone might become acquainted. Miss Marguerite Sutherland and Mrs. La Verna Crew each sang two numbers during this time, then the meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Mary English. The annual reports were given by the secretary, Mrs. E. J. Miller, the treasurer, Miss Louise Braska and by the chairman of the rummage sale, Mrs. S. R. Crowner. Mrs. English, in looking forward to the new year's work, expressed the hope that the federation would not live on its past achievements, but would enter at once upon a period of great activity. There is much to be done for own community, and civic work has always been followed up by the federation, so whatever it starts out to do, will be accomplished. The president urged that every club woman line herself up for work this year, as it is impossible to even make plans if only a few attend the monthly meetings.
