The September meeting of the W.C.T.U. was held at the home of Mrs. J.b. Heisel Tuesday the fifteenth. The president Mrs. C.S. George presiding. The meeting opened with the song stand up for Jesus. Mrs. German had the devotionals, reading from Pauls letter to the Gallatins. Prayer was then offered by Mrs. Robt. Lincoln Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Also the minutes of the Executive Board. Miss Ada Park was appointed to fill the press and publicity department. Moved and seconded that the organization purchase 200 blotters same as last year. Moved and seconded that the check for blotters and Union Signal be given by treasurer. President appointed Mrs. Christina Lincoln to send for blotters. Delegates to the state convention to be held in Davenport in october were elected. Mrs. Robt. Lincoln representing Poweshiek Co and Mrs. Lina german the Grinnell union. A very good paper on "An Antidote for War". was given by Mrs. E.M. kearney. She brought out that [then?] the peace conferences and essays written. the subject was [kept?] befire the people and more thinking done about it. the meeting adjourned with the usual benedictions. Members who paid dues were Mrs. George, mrs. heisel, Mrs. McDonough, Mrs. Alder, Mrs. Hamilton, Mrs. Hoover, Mrs. Cline, and Mrs. J.S. Stoaks Mrs. James McKee Secty.
