WCTU Group Holds Meeting Grinnell WCTU members met at the J.E. Foster home on Tuesday afternoon for a regular monthly meeting. In the absence of the president, Mars. Charles Adams, the vice-president, Mrs. Edythe Lynch, presided. Mrs. Geo. C. Renaud led devotions, taking part of Proverbs for her subject. Particular emphasis was put on the verse, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." She closed the devotional period with a prayer. During the brief business session, the group expressed the hope that some special temperance lessons may be used along with daily Bible school sessions this summer. Mrs. Harvey Mikel took charge of the program, and told of the recent legislation passed in the state of Arizona, which "put teeth into laws controlling the drinking driver." Mrs. Mikel and her husband had spent the winter in Arizona, and had followed the passage of the bill through newspapers and WCTU meetings. The meeting was closed with a prayer offered by Mrs. A.W. McBlain. "No" to Liquor Store at Mt. Pleasant To the Editor: Now that the liquor commission seems to have decided to locate a store here, many seem to think there is mothering we can do about it. Thank God there is something we can do about it. If ever there was a racket it is the liquor producers and distributors who are the promoters and they need only to be forced by law to cease the nefarious business. Here's my prayer and hope: To awaken to what is just and right and if necessary to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. I'll be happy to back such a movement. This is not Russia. We must not sleep at the switch. - I.E.M. Chambers, 200 S. Harrison st., Mount Pleasant, Ia. Will Not Close Liquor Store - Why?
