The treasurer reports a balance of $12.95: $13.14 was raised at the silent auction: $39.00 was sent in to State as our Budget dollars No old business. Since the state Convention in Oct 17,18,19 at Washington Ia. the question was wheather we'd have the next meeting on the 18th? Voted to have it as planned. A Get well card was passed and signed to be sent to Mrs Ewing, who's in the Community Hospital. Mrs Sage called on five members of the WCTU Mrs. McBlain led the devotions - Mrs Alle read Isaiah 6:1-6 "Open Door to Total Abstincence" was the central tho't of her remarks. "Vision for Service" was read from Union Signal She also stressed we work for more new members & work & pray as well as pay our dues towards the temperance cause. closed with prayers An interesting program was given by Mrs Epler, telling of her trip to visit their son, stationed in the Panama Canal area & their experience conciring their stand against serving alcoholic beaverages t others stationed there Also quotes against drinking from Benjamin Franklin and J.C. Penney were used. Offering was taken & several paid their dues. We closed with the Benediction Mrs. H. Mikel, Secy. The WCTU family night was held at the Presbyterian Church on Oct 18th. A good supper was enjoyed. Followed by the meeting, Rev S. Epler lead the devotions, reading scripture about some of St. Pauls experiences. He also advised us on how the two canidates for Presdident stood on the liquor question also quoted from Sam Morris's letter. Songs were sun by the 'Pioneer Girls' of the [N.?] Friends Church. Mrs Headland directed them in their songs. A skit "A Girl, A flower & A prayer" was given by Lela Adams, her granddaughter, Mrs McBlain, Minnie Mattingly, Eva Peoppon, Ruth Pohlenz & Mike. A song "Beneath the Cross of Jesus" Three Film strips were shown by Kenneth Pohlenz, "Trouble for Sale" " What About It, Dad?" and "Facts of Fancy. A fair crowd was present. Mrs. H. Mikel, Sec'y.
