388 Was used in the Orient about 200 A.D. We were the 51st nation to recognize its harm. Every state has laws concerning marichauna. Fine for peddling it is $2000 or 25 years in prison, or both. With so much money behind the industry, they continue to flout the law. Other interesting articles and information was presented by those present and discussed; including the refusal to accept the fist of Gideon Bibles in our local schools, and of an article published in the school paper. Minutes of the Jan. meeting were read and approved. Roll call reported 3 legislative letters sent, 17 calls made, and 23 cards sent. Treasurer reported balance of $21.80. A short report was given concerning the Malcom tea which was attended by 6 from our Grinnell union. We learned that area conferences will be held in April, and the Grinnell union is to be hostess to one of these. Mable Morgan and Lela Adams were appointed for music and Rachel Mikkel and Eloise Keister on kitchen committee. Meeting was dismissed with prayer by Mrs. Allen. The W.C.T.U. met with Mrs. Sybil Renaud on March 16, with 12 present, Eloise Keister presiding. She led us in pledges to the 3 flags. Lela Adams led devotions on subject - "By their fruits ye shall know them," Scriptures found in Matt. 7:12 and Isa. 61:3. Thoughts concerning the Golden Rule were presented, concluding with prayer. Eva Pepoon had charge of the program. She reviewed the article - "Blueprints for Progress" from the Union Signal, concerning our literature and suggested projects. She also presented an article recommending the use of postcards in commending or protesting against printed matter, broadcasts, etc. Another article "[Ceperada?] dealt with choices. Business session opened with reading of minutes of Feb. meeting, and approval. Roll call totaled 12 cards sent to sick or shut-ins, 18 calls made, and 4 letters sent to legislators. Treasurer reported $24.58 in treasury. Miss Keister read letter from Emma Arnold concerning the spring conference which will be held in Grinnell on April 26, in the
