395 and Rachel Mikkel explained the bags for the Veteran's hospital at Iowa City, and showed some of the bags which had been made. Sybil Renaud brought up the matter of writing a letter to Pres. Leggett of Grinnell College commending his efforts to improve the social conditions which now exist at the college. Motion made, seconded and carried that the recording secretary should care for this matter. Meeting closed with prayer by Bessie Alexander. Nellie Lincoln, Sec'y Pro-tem No minutes - June. W.C.T.U. met July 19 with Nellie Lincoln - 11 members and 1 guest present. Pledges to the flags were given followed by the song - "This is My Father's World." Rachel Mikkel led in devotions - Scripture Haggai 2:4 - Theme - "A Time of Need." Mildred Jones had the program on "Saboteurs of Victory." Minutes of May meeting were read and approved, also a copy of the letter sent President Leggett. The report of the nominating committee composed of Eva Pepoon, Nell Inman, and Lela Adams, gave their report as follows - Pres. Rachel Mikkel - - Vice Pres. - Lela Adams & Eloise Keister Recording Sec'y - Mrs. Ralph Allen - - - Treas. Nellie Lincoln. The report of the nominating committee was approved. The matter of the filling of the Kits for Veterans was brought up. It was suggested that a committee be appointed to finish up the kits. Motion was made that Lela Adams and Nellie Lincoln serve as this committee - Seconded and carried. Voted that the treasurer order program books and packet for next year. Mable Morgan reported from the congressional record regarding the resolution on prayer in the schools. Meeting closed with prayer by Eloise Keister, after which a picnic lunch was enjoyed - Nellie Lincoln, Sec'y Pro Tem Aug. meeting with Mildred Jones. Voted to send $5.00 for thank offering State Convention and $15.00 for expenses of Mrs. Allen as delegate to the convention. No other minutes. W.C.T.U. met on Sept. 20 with Rachel Mikkel - 16 members and 3 visitors present. Meeting opened with pledges the flags Mrs. Harris led in devotions on subject "Effectual Working with God." After a song, she read from Matt. 7:11 and 1 John 5:14. She commented, then led in prayer. Mrs. Pepoon was program leader. She reported on the 92nd. national convention held in Portland, Oregon. She reviewed articles - "Frances Willard and the Lamplighter -" - "What Everyone Should Know about Alcoholic Beverages" - - "Temperance and the Ten Commandments."
