424 July 20, 1971 Grinnell W.C.T.U. The July meeting of the W.C.T.U. met at the home of Nellie Lincoln with six members present and two visitors Eloise led us in our three flag salutes. Our devotionals were taken from Malachi 2:10 and Acts 17:24-28 verses. The title being "World Citizen." God had two dwelling places on in heaven and one in meek and thankful hearts. In our day many of us who become more educated and affluent, stray farther away from God. In Paul's day the city of Athens was the center of philosophy, literature, science and art; also the greatest univ. of the ancient world was located there. In spite of the finest culture, idolatry was rampant The program dealt with "Our Christian Heritage.' We prayed for superintendents in other countries such as Trinidad and Jamaica, who are working for God and a better world The reports for May and June were read and approved. There were 15 calls made and nine cards sent Mrs. Foster and Mrs. Stanley are in the hosp. Eloise Keister our pres read a letter from the state pres., Mrs. Cecil Roberts. We are to write to the Honorable Richard Nixon President of the United States The White House Washington D.C. 20500 We are to tell him we resent his appointment of Mrs. Chevetz who wants to teach children to drink liquor in the home. No one should take the first drink of whiskey, beer or wine Eloise read from a pamphlet that thousands are still alcoholics. A person should not take that first drink of alcoholic beveridge. The cause is still legalized. We discussed our World Conv. to be held in Chicago, Ill., July 28-Aug. 4, 1971. Mildred Jones, Nellie Lincoln and Eloise Keister will be on the nominating comm. Our pres. closed the meeting with a prayer and we all sang "Blest be the Tie That Binds." Then we had our picnic supper Sec. Carol I. Sammon
