440 March 20, 1973 We met at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Harris with Lea, Eva Pepoon, Nellie, Eloise and myself attending We had the pledges to the American, Christian, and Temperance flags led by pres. Eloise sent for booklets Punch 'N Good Times and leaflets, and the State Got the Revenue. A fellow got drunk and stole a car. While he was feeling "too good." from alcohol he ran into an eleven year old boy and killed him. The drunk He bragged that he got drunk twice a month and the state gets the revenue from liquor. How will this help the mother who lost her child? Mrs Harris had Scriptures from Isiah 41: 6-10 and Galatians 6:1-10 verses Bear ye one anothers burdens Be not deceived. God reveals himself in many ways. She also had closing prayer Rev. Harris reported that 10,000 are sent to mental hospitals every year because they drink too much alcohol. Alcohol affects, judgment, reason, sensation and emotion. It also affects hearing, seeing and thinking. In a test one year in Calif 53% of the auto accidents were cause by drinkers Other troubles and worries in our society are veneral diseases and using marijuana and valarium pills. Marijuana numbs your body and certain pills are harmful and sickening. Proverbs 20- Verse I Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wine. Eloise wrote to several radio stations commenting them on their interesting program. One legislative letter was sent, six letters, and 3 cards. 50 calls were made Mrs. Sojka Public Relations representative wanted the state officers to meet with us. We felt we couldn't do so at this time Collection was taken. Minutes of the Dec meeting were approved as read. We have $63.72 in our treasury. Nellie made the motion and it was seconded by Lela that we send $2.00 to the Francis Willard fund, $2.00 to Lillian Stevens fund and $2.00 to our legislature Comm. Motion passed. We plan to spend $8.80 for the Light Line mag. for a missionary Carol read legislative items. Prayer by Rev [illegible] Pres. Eloise Keister Sec Carol I. Sammon
