April Meeting The April 1913 meeting of the Womans Christian Temperance Union was held in the conq. church parlor April 16. Seventeen ladies were in attendance. Meeting opened by singing the hymn "Stand up for Jesus." Mrs. Effie Stocks had charge of the devotional exercises reading the discription of the drunkard from the scripture. Who hath woe? Who hath sorrow? Who hath contentions? Who hath babbling? Who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes? They that tary long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red. When it giveth his color in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like as erpent and stingeth like an adder. Prayer was offered by Mrs. Stocks. The hymn "He Leadeth me" was sung then Miss Jennie Bailey read the letters to Senator H. W. Spaulding and Representative Ralph Sherman requesting then ardent support of one temperance solution and temperance bills. She also read the reply to each, assuring the union of their interest in teh bils mentioned and that they would be carefully considered by them when brought before the Senate. The Pres. spoke of the Daylight saloon law and also the five mile law. The Treasurer reported $34.58 realized from the market day held April 12. A vote of thanks was given to all who so willingly assisted with the market day and helped to make it a succes. Mrs. Lewis was instructed to send for purity leaflets. Mrs. Isabell Brande had charge of the programe which was Inebriate Asylums.
