Apr. 18th 1916 The Grimmell W.C.T.U. met in the [illegible] Church with 12 present Mrs. Buchanan led the Devotional [illegible] After singing she read 'The Virtuous Woman from Proverbs. and led in prayer Minutes read and approved The receipts from Market Day were $31.60 Mrs. Dayton's boy run over by auto a Com. to get him a book and to express our sympathy was appointed [illegible] Terrell and Mrs. Stocks A card was sent to [illegible] Bailey at Rochester. The Flower Mission [Supt?] was requested to send Easter Cards to the Co. Farm. The Wife's Side of the Liquor Problem. Leader Mrs. [Emma?] Bailey The writer pointed out that the wife was expected to economize so that the moderate drinker can indulge in champagne. Women have to bear the drink habit burden [illegible] Terrell read a fine paper which was published by the Register. [illegible] E. S. Mr. [Fanning?] spoke Apr. 20 to a small audience as it was Thurs. night before Easter and rainy. June 5: Suffrage Amendment failed [illegible] carry by [4,5000 strikethrough corrected to 10000] votes. afterwards raised to 10000 - failed by 10000
