Communications were sent to the mayor expressing thanks for the clean administrative trusting that cigarette selling selling among boys and men be eliminated and the use among the feminine sex forever abhored and eliminated The meeting was closed by repeating the [Mispah?]. The December 1921 meeting was held in connection with the institute at the Presbyterian church the 13th of the month. President called the meeting to order and the devotionals were given over to Mrs. Edua [Sherman?] after the reading of the Word and prayer Miss Gladys Sherman led the singing Some Glad Day. The president called for sec. report which was read. It was moved and seconded that the expense of the float be allowed. Mrs. Hamilton gave for discussion how can we improve our Union-a subject of importance, but most of the members failed to take any part in the discussion Our president made an earnest plea in having the bible [placed?] book in the schools a short discussion but not enough interest shown to bring about definite results. While this matter is being agitated in many places and in some [illegible] much has been accomplished. And the bible again is read in several schools. [illegible] but disaster follows-any country that lays aside the "guide book. Mrs. Kearney introduced visiting members and the Union welcome of all, there being representatives from [town name?]. present. The balance of the [illegible] [illegible] was turned over to Mrs. Woodburn who took charge of the [illegible] [illegible], prayer and meditation. AFternoon session was one of special interest
