Moved and seconded Mrs. Robt Lincoln [illegible] Marengo to the Group Conference February 8th 1926 And all expenses paid. Our attention was called to the 89 birthday of Mrs Brande on March 4 it was mentioned that a festal shower would be given her by Mrs Straks gave a report of the peace department of our union. The attendance was large. Meeting was closed by the benediction. The February 16, 1926 meeting assembled in the Congregational church Tuesday the sixteenth of the month. The president presiding She opened the meeting with sing "Secret House of Prayer." We were [illegible] with a solo by Mrs. C.B.J. Spencer which was pleasing to those present. The devotionals were in charge of Mrs. H.V. Griffiths drawing our attention to the days of out Savior previous to the Ressurection. The Bible reading was impressive and we felt the seriousness of these days that preceded his crucifixion. Mr E.M. Villin spoke on Americanization of the foreigners. Advancing through as to the methods of [illegible] the foreigners problem. He confused the vast with the present as in habits etc. The speaker presented some [illegible] in the action of Congress in the way of excluding all foreigners who do not give up their allegiance to their native country. Mrs G.A. Watland gave an interesting report of the group meeting in Marengo. Bringing to us the substance of the session of that place. The state president conducted this meeting and instructed those present on many essentials on the work which must be carried out Mrs. Smith a member of the [illegible] Union was present. Mrs Smith was in our city for the purpose of bringing a second installment of the sons library which she is giving to the college.
