very hard to buy a library of him and at what credit I chose to have. I made this arrangement with him; he gave me the prices of his books. (Those I thought I wanted) and as I declined being trusted at all, he agreed to forward to me whatever books I wanted 2 to consider any payment I should make within six months from the time the books were forwarded as a cash payment and would deduct 12½ per cent from his prices. I can get Cruises digest at this arrangement for $25 7 vols (Unable to read list) And about in the same ratio for a number of other books I think I cannot do better than to purchase them for it is as necessary for a lawyer to have books as it is for a soldier to have a musket I think I shall therefore send an order to Samuel Steward to get them for me when he arrives in Albany, and so have them forwarded to me with his goods I expect to arrive in Penn Yan Tuesday night - I came from Orville to this place this morning. I intended to copy this letter before I sent it but the packet boat has just come in sight - give my love to William & Rufus, I shall send Wm a letter next week - I am your affectionate son Henry Eno
