he should probably come out here by the 15th of next month, & I would by all means advise him to calculate upon going to Buffaloe as the expenses from here then will be but trifling, & he cannot choose a better season for travelling than the latter part of September & the first of October. There has been such a crashing of monied Institutions that I was fearful the Middle district bank would be one of the number, & we had a report here sometime ago that it had closed door but it was afterwards contradicted, there is but little cash of any kind now in circulation here & there perhaps never was a time when money would command a higher per cent than the present - The crops of grain & grass are very good this [ink blot] & the country has suffered but very little from the drought there is an abundance of fruit of every kind & nothing but money is scarce - Tell little Rufus I hope he will prove a good scholar & give my love to the rest of the family I am Your affectionate son Henry Eno
