we had to seprate at watertown Bill went on 1 Class cars to Rome and I on freight trains [of cors?] I met Bill at Rome then [illeg] Bill got tired of traveling a lone there I was [compeled?] to Buy 1 class ticket & ride on freight trains to S Bridge then I took the ticket that Mr Parke the S Harbour agent had for me at the Watertown Stage Ofice wich was for Bill & I to fulton 3 class & horses only to Chicago the Horses cost [to?] Chicago $4200 it is hard travling with Horses Ralrode Co will not take on hoses only when it comadates their terms we had to lay at Detroit 2 nights 1 day at larg casts
