Dear Brother & sister Henry we have Carrots Which will Weigh 6 lbs & Sweet turnips big enough fill a half bushnell Clime we have a Company young Soldiers in our town & i am one of them i am first Lieutenant i have my uniform the [illeg] one farmer that has[illeg] hogs & 100 pigs Clime I have 2 B of hickory nuts & they are as large as three cornered hats & i have 3 B of good popcorn Henry if you fetch any thing fetch a double Barreled Gun one Barrel a cut Rifle & the other Barrel the shoot shot that Gun will be more Beneficial than any thing you can fetch that is if you can get it in the way of [illeg] in disposing of some of your notions it would be a fine thing for shooting Geese & Prairrie hens & will sell well but all other things you can buy as cheap here as you can there Wm C Grohe Henry if you conclude to get a threshing machine [illeg] will pay well for here they thresh at all times of the year & I will Join you in getting one if it is agreeable to your [illeg] it envoleves on me to close this long & awkward letter I Ever Remain your true & Effectionate Father Jac_ Grohe Henry & Climene you will learn much By coming west the west [august] the world for smart folks
