For the purpose of promoting the cause of temperance we, whose names are hereto attached, agree to be governed by the following Constitution. Art. 1 - It shall be the object of this Organization to use all honorable means to induce the drunkard to reform, and the moderate drinker to abstain from intoxicating drinks and by their example to give credit to the cause of temperance: to teach the young the evils of acquiring habits of intemperance and the danger of taking the first glass: to encourage and sustain all who desire the accomplishment of said ends.Art. 2 - The name of this organization shall be: "The Denison Total Abstinence Union". Art. 3 - The officers of the Union shall consist of a President, two Vice presidents, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, and five Directors, three of whom shall constitute a quorum. Art. 4 - any person may become a member of this union by paying to the Treasurer a membership fee of twenty five cents, and signing the constitution, which includes the following Pledge: "I do promise with the help of Almighty God, to abstain from buying, selling, or
