by Mr Shaw [can?]. Mr Keith followed for the negative in absence of Mr Phelps. There being no volunteer speakers, Mr Shaw Van closed the debate for the affirmative. The question was decided two votes to one in favor of the affirmative. Mr. Keith moved that there be a mock trial at the next meeting as a part of the entertainment. Carried. Mr Keith was appointed a committee to take charge of the matter. The Union was then favored with music by Miss [Nellie?] Burlingame, Mr & Mrs E.S. [Phinfetor?] and Geo. Knight.
